Pork Fiction

A Salute to the pulps, their heroes, villains and fans!

April 30 to May 15, 2010
With special guest stars
Charles
Killer Donut
Assaulted Fish
and winners of the UW ASC Talent Show

Heroes! Villains! Good guys! Bad Guys! Gods! Demons! And the fans who love them!
The Pork Filled Players, in association with the Theatre Off Jackson, presents Pork Fiction, a new sketch comedy show inspired by the action packed pulps of yesteryear, running at the Theatre Off Jackson (409 7th Ave. S., Seattle), April 30 to May 15 (Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm).
Covering everything from Trekkies to political tea bagger conventions, Pork Fiction celebrates fanatics and the pulp stories they love.  And, since PFP has the most female writers and performers of any sketch group in the Northwest (writing the vast majority of the show), we ain't talking just testosterone fantasies–plenty of girl power, too!

Joining the Players are the local sketch comedy teams of Charles (April 30 and May 1) and Killer Donut (May 7 and 8) as well as the international sensation of Assaulted Fish, from Vancouver, BC (May 14 and 15). As a special bonus, winners from the University of Washington’s Asian Students Commission 2010 Talent Show will also appear, including singer Clairbel Novelo, Chinese yo-yo masters Eric Wu & Eric Liao, classical musicians Alice Leung & Eric Zhang and singer/songwriter Kyle Andrews.

The Players are led by producer Roger Tang and lead writer Maggie Lee and include Brian Beckley, Derek Chan, Chau Luu, May Nguyen, Owen Yen and Yvette Zaepfel.

Hi Fish Fans,

We had a spectacular summer and hope you did too! With fall just around the corner (yes, we, too, will deny it until the Gortex and galoshes have to come out), look for Assaulted Fish performances north and south of the border, on stage and on screen!

First up...A recession-friendly show @ the Wired Monk Bistro in Kitsilano.

We're performing two 20-minute sets of our favourite sketches, as well as a few new ones we're hoping will become favourites. Best of all, no entry fee or tickets to buy. Instead, we encourage you to support the Wired Monk with a java/menu purchase. They serve organic coffee, loose leaf tea, specialty coffees, tapas items and (yum!) dessert. They're licensed to serve wine and beer and will have drink specials too.

Come early as seating is limited. See you there!

Finally...because social media can get a bit overwhelming...

Assaulted Fish is now on Twitter. We're also on Facebook and MySpace and manage a Yahoo email list. We don't want to be bombarding you with the same announcements again and again (unless you really like that sort of thing), so if you'd rather just receive one announcement, let us know which type of communication you prefer. See below to contact us.

Thanks for your continued support and hope to see you sometime this fall!
